Happy 2023! I hope everyone had a fun and safe NYE. We stayed home this year and didn’t even make snacks or anything. Josh was working on music recording stuff and I worked on some crochet projects. I thought I would share my 2023 goals and chat with you guys today. I’ve been doing a goals post on my blog for a few years now and it’s always been a favorite of mine. I think it’s fun to look back at the year and set goals for the new year. And sharing them with you guys helps keep me accountable!
A look back at 2022…
If I had to describe 2022 in one word, I’m not sure I could. It was a lot. It was a year full of positive and challenging situations. I say challenging because I was able to learn so much from those situations. I feel like when you’re going through something rough, at the time it’s horrible. But as you go through it and get through it there’s so much to learn. You can grow from those situations. And I’m really trying to keep that mindset into 2023.
In my post from 2021, I mentioned Josh’s health. For those of you that don’t know my fiancé, Josh has a mass on his thyroid. He had a biopsy a couple of years ago and it came back with unclear results. And we didn’t get any answers in 2022. We’re supposed to meet with a new doctor at a new hospital this year. I’m just hoping and praying we get some answers this year and that Josh can get back to his normal self.
I decided this year that I wanted to keep my goals simple. And my goals from last year really fit with what I’m wanting this year. So I’m essentially just keeping the same goals just changing them a little bit to fit with this year.
Take Better Care Of Myself // I cut gluten from my diet in July of last year. I was just doing some experiments cutting things out of my diet because of some stomach issues I was experiencing. I didn’t expect gluten to be the problem! After cutting gluten I was able to lose 30 pounds. 30 pounds that I had been struggling to lose because it just seemed like I couldn’t lose any weight. I had also been dealing with leg swelling and after cutting gluten my swelling went away. This year I’m not going to focus on losing weight specifically. I just want to continue getting healthy and just feel better.
I also really want to work on my mental health this year. I’ve shared before that I struggle with anxiety. I have for years. Last year I struggled with my anxiety. And this year I want to work on it and take better care of myself mentally. I want to get outside more, go for more walks, journal more, and do more things to relax. I’m also going to try to take a day off of work once in a while. I’m guilty of always working and taking time off is difficult for me. But I’m really going to try to take a day off.
Find Balance With Work // I did a horrible job at doing this last year. I think this is something I will always struggle with. This year I’m really going to try to work on getting a work schedule created. I’m so guilty of skipping meals during the workday and just not taking time for myself. I’m going to get a schedule created and stick to it. Have a day that I need to get photos done instead of scrambling around to get photos taken so I have new content. I just need to manage my time better. And I think having a schedule will help me do that.
Those are my goals! Like I said I’m keeping it simple this year. I used to make these long lists of goals and then feel so horrible about not reaching those goals. And while there’s nothing wrong with a long list of goals, it’s just not me anymore. I just want to keep things simple and focus on just a few things. It’s much easier for me!
A big thank you to all of you for your year(s) of continued kindness and support! I am so thankful for this community and for all of you. I couldn’t do what I do without you guys!
Wishing you all a wonderful 2023!
